Recently, I received an email letting me know that an editorial I photographed would be featured in the spring/summer issue of Modern Luxury Weddings, a premiere bridal magazine.
I was over the moon, as the shoot turned out truly stunning—it featured some top industry professionals and was held at a beautiful new Philadelphia area venue, Loch Aerie Mansion. A few weeks later, the magazine told me the news that one of my images was selected as the magazine’s cover photo. Talk about a surreal moment!
Centered around the elegance and beauty of Loch Aerie, a gorgeous stone mansion built in 1865 that’s nestled in Chester County, PA, I worked with a talented team of vendors who worked together on a design that highlighted the venue’s unique features. As Loch Aerie was originally home to a family of sisters, the goal was to weave that history into the shoot’s inspiration as well.
With the rise of at-home weddings this year, Shannon Wellington settled on the idea of a bride getting ready with her sister in their house, a subtle nod to the venue’s history with a light, airy color palette that still felt contemporary. The shoot was an absolute dream to capture—lots of movement as the sisters danced around the house in dreamy dresses, soft and ethereal details, a flood of natural light, and breathtaking backdrops like a stunning staircase and antique furniture. For the ceremony portion, the team added a simple but statement-worthy floral installation to the fireplace and used table lamps and velvet details to match the interior design of the home.
I focused on photographing the youthful relationship of the sisters, and how they carried out their excitement and anticipation of the bride’s wedding day. The image chosen for the magazine’s cover perfectly represents those emotions—the bride effortlessly wearing a gorgeous pastel tiered dress, looking fresh and modern against the mansion’s historical features. She represents true style, and I am honored that Modern Luxury Weddings chose this as their cover image.
